Not everyone will understand your journey. That’s fine. It’s not their journey to make sense of. It’s yours.

It’s your life and your path — keep going.

Always remember to keep your eyes on your goals and the steps you can take to achieve them. Focus less on what you don’t have or what you can’t do or what others are doing.

Yes, it can be difficult not noticing what others are up to or how “easy” some people seem to have it or how successful they appear. Just know, perception isn’t always reality. And if you do notice others, then use what you see as motivation to push forward.

Remember, you’re living your life and walking your own path, not someone else’s. Just because someone else is making progress towards their goals is no reason for you to stop making progress towards your own.

Change your strategy if you have to and take time to rest if you must, but don’t stop. Every little step you take towards your goals is progress. Keep going.

The path to one’s goals isn’t linear

On many occasions, the answer to problems in one area of your life will come as a result of making progress somewhere else.

Refuse to waste time being deterred by something you can’t do and focus on something else that you can. Sometimes the rewards for your efforts on one path will help provide you with what you need to go down another.

Be the indispensable lead of your own life story

“If you don’t build your own dream someone else will hire you to help build theirs.” — Tony Gaskins Jr.

It’s better to be the indispensable lead of your own life story than a dispensable part of someone else’s.

Remember to live your life by choice not by chance.

“Don’t put the key to your happiness is someone else’s pocket.”

Have a purpose. Set goals. Aim high. And take action.

“When writing the story of your life, don’t let anyone else hold the pen.”

Direct your life. Don’t just drift.

“The amount of satisfaction you get from life depends largely on your own ingenuity, self-sufficiency, and resourcefulness. People who wait around for life to supply their satisfaction usually find boredom instead.” — Dr. William Menninger

The path to success isn’t a straight line

Don’t stop working towards a goal just because the path to it isn’t as direct or as easy as you hoped it would be. It is often the lessons one learns on their journey that are exactly what one needs to complete it.

The next level

reaching-a-plateau-in-life-zero-dean

Despite expectations and intentions, everyone’s lives are occasionally punctuated with plateaus upon which little appears to happen.

Reaching a plateau in life is simply a sign that in order for things to advance to the next level, either you or something you’re doing must change.

“Change is not merely necessary to life, it is life.” — Alvin Toffler

Strength isn’t built in one’s comfort zone.

One’s strength is manufactured in the moments when one decides that the struggle to achieve something is more important than the temporary discomfort that comes from doing so.

If you create goals with confidence, but sometimes suffer from self-doubt, realize that it’s a sign that you’re on the right track, not the wrong one.

Because if your aspirations don’t push you beyond your comfort zone, you’re not aiming high enough.

Never settle for less than the life you are capable of living

Excerpt from: What it means to “live life to the fullest”

To live life to the fullest means facing your fears with bravery, an open mind, and a lack of prejudice. It means making the most of what you have and never settling for less than the life you are capable of living. It means being truly alive and awake to life and not asleep in life’s waiting room.
