Not everyone will understand your journey. That’s fine. It’s not their journey to make sense of. It’s yours.

For those struggling…

If you are struggling, remember: “This, too, shall pass”. But also know that whatever we are struggling with passes faster when we focus on the steps we can take to change our lives for the better, no matter how small those steps may be. Because over time, even small steps can carry us a great distance.

Always, always, always focus on what you CAN do.

A healthy attitude is a precursor to happiness

healthy attitude is what allows a person to see the value in all life experiences, not just the “good” ones.

The simple decision to be happy isn’t as much of a precursor to happiness as a healthy attitude is. A healthy attitude is what allows one to truly appreciate the journey of life regardless of one’s circumstances.

The more one learns to enjoy & appreciate not just the highlights of one’s life, but the complete journey, the more often happiness arrives as a result of that enjoyment.

Skip and volume control (for your mind)

When you don’t like a song in your playlist or grow tired of one, what do you do? Do you play it even louder? Do you put it on repeat?

No. You skip the song and play something you like better. Because you control your playlist.

So why then would you play the same old tired negative thoughts when they pop into your head over and over again?

You control your thoughts. Learn to hit skip.

Happiness is not just putting on a fake smile & pretending

Excerpt from: Happiness is not a choice

Happiness is not a choice. Attitude is.

Happiness is not just putting on a fake smile, acting cheerful, and pretending everything is OK.

Sometimes things are not OK. And that’s OK.

“Happiness is a choice” isn’t helpful

Even if attaining a state of happiness was as simple as making a choice, telling someone who isn’t happy that “happiness is a choice” is as about as helpful as teaching someone how to fish by telling them that “there are fish in the sea”.

Focus, attitude, and actions

The trajectory of your life is largely determined what you choose to focus on, the attitude you harbor when you focus on it, and the actions you take as a result. And each of these things is completely within your power to control.

Yes, sh*t happens, but whether it’s an obstacle on the way to your goals, rejection that stings, or an unexpected negative event, it is not the end of your journey.

Rest up & refocus if you need to, learn what you can from the experience, and then push forward.

The more you implement this strategy into your life, the more progress you’ll make and the more resilient you’ll become.
