Quick answers and where things stand.
Is Zero your real name?
Yes. Zero is my first name, and Dean is my last. It’s the name I was born with, not a stage name or a pseudonym. My mother chose it, and the story of where it might have come from is on the About the name Zero Dean page.
Where things stand
As of October 2026
Lessons Learned… / Zerosophy
The rate at which I published “Lessons learned...” or “Zerosophy” posts steadily decreased after I published my first book in December 2018. And then in late 2021 I stopped posting altogether.
The main reason I stopped posting is that I kept discovering my writing being shared on social media — and elsewhere online — without attribution. And in many cases, it was being spread to a much larger audience than I could reach on my own. And as much of what I was posting would be included — in some form — in future books, I decided the best way to protect that content — and my authorship — would be to restrict it to the books.
My books
I’m still working on the books. The six-book series is in its last phase of polishing, and I don’t have a release date yet. The Books page has the details.
My webcomic
I still maintain my webcomic, Zero Talking .
From The Path Less Traveled Documentary Project
This project started in spring 2019. COVID interrupted it in early 2020, and the project went on hiatus when it became impossible to continue. I haven’t ruled out starting it again.
You can see what it was, and where things stand, at fromthepathlesstraveled.com . The project is separate from my book, Lessons Learned From The Path Less Traveled, which you can find on the Books page.
Adventure Season (Adventures with Koti & Zero)
Each year, Koti and I spend four to six months hiking and exploring mountains in Utah, Wyoming, Colorado and Idaho. We got back in mid-September 2026, and the next Adventure Season starts in late spring or early summer 2027.
I post videos from our adventures year-round on YouTube , TikTok , Instagram and Facebook .
