Slice of light

Canon EOS D60 (infrared converted)

In November of 2005, for the second time in my life, I packed up everything I owned and made a cross-country trek to the west coast. This time, instead of living in the San Francisco Bay area, I was heading to sunny southern California to try to get a foothold in the photography field.

I had no idea what I was getting myself into.

This infrared photo was taken en route — somewhere in eastern Utah, I believe.

Canon EOS D60 (infrared converted)

In 2005 (after having dipped into professional photography in 2004), I bought my 3rd Canon DSLR (a 1DmII) and then had my second DSLR (D60) converted to infrared.

This is from my first outing with the converted camera in 2005.

I loved the challenge it brought along with the often striking results it yielded in black & white.
