I wouldn’t normally send out two posts in one day, but this is time sensitive. I want to help those who are having trouble getting my book for free…
First, it is *definitely* available on Amazon sites *worldwide* today. A few people have had issues, but ultimately figured out a way to get it.
Make sure you are on the “kindle/ebook” tab – or find that option. You may need to do a direct search for my name or the title of the book and then go that route. I’m not sure what time zone this promotion is synced with – or how any of that works — so it’s possible it may be expired in some countries already (haven’t checked a clock).
All I can say is keep trying — because I can tell you as of this post I have given away 1,637 copies around the globe.
Ranking in “sales” today: US, India, Canada, UK, Germany, Brazil, Spain, Mexico, Italy, Australia, Japan, France.
Again, this will be the only time I do this and it is my only real chance to “easily” get my book into the possession of people who might benefit from it, so if you know someone who might be interested in it, please let them know as soon as possible in whatever way you can. Thank you.
And if you find value in my book, please be sure to leave a review on Amazon. That would be immensely appreciated!
I will actually have more cool news soon! If you haven’t already, be sure to subscribe to my Youtube channel If you like my book, you’re going to enjoy my youtube videos.
May the love you put into what you do always find its way back to you, Zero Dean
The ebook version ($9.99) of my book, Lessons Learned from The Path Less Traveled Volume 1 will be FREE all day on Amazon.com today (4/17).
Just click the “buy now for $0.00” button and you’ll own it forever and can read it whenever on any device.
I don’t make any money from this promotion, so I’m only doing it once. It is my hope, however, that it helps drum up additional interest and also yields additional reviews to help solidify its nearly 5-star rating.
Even though it’s free, I’d still love to use this opportunity to get as many copies into circulation as possible, so if you know anyone (friends, family members, coworkers…) who might appreciate a free book or potentially benefit from its content, please give them a heads up. That would be awesome.
It is unclear to me if this is an Amazon.COM exclusive, or if this promotion is active on international Amazon sites. In any case, grab it while you can, tell anyone you think might care, and please consider leaving a review if you find value in it.
Ok, folks! Here’s the news some of you have been waiting for!
The Kindle edition of my book which regularly sells for $9.99 will be totally free — for one day only — on Wednesday, April 17th!
Set an alarm (or reminder) on your phone right now for April 17th. And then tell anyone you care about that my book will be free.
This is a $10 gift from me to you — or from you to anyone you care about. I want people who wouldn’t ordinarily be able to afford my book — or who wouldn’t otherwise know it exists — to have a chance to read it. Because that’s what authors want — READERS! And I poured my heart into this book with the hope it would provide value to people.
If you’re thinking, “I don’t own a Kindle device.”, you don’t have to! The Kindle app can be installed on any phone, tablet, or computer, too.
You might also be wondering how I’ll make any money if I give my book away for free? The truth is, I don’t. I don’t make a cent.
But one potential benefit I do get is more great reviews to help solidify the solid rating my book already has and more positive word of mouth that will hopefully lead to more book sales later.
And one final thing to observe is that the paperback edition is truly the ideal version of my book because it’s intended to be “dipped into”, but the ebook is a great introduction and has all the same information.
I’m hoping that those who love the ebook may actually want to help support my work by upgrading to the print edition. And that would be awesome.
One last thing, if you already own my book — and you enjoyed it — please take a moment to leave a review. I’d really, really, really appreciate it.
My book will be free on Wednesday April 17th. Set a reminder or an alarm and tell everyone you care about (please). Text your friends. Call your family. Share this news on social media. Just help me let people know about this news. I’d really appreciate it. Thank you!

May the love you put into what you do always find its way back to you,
It’s only $2.99 if you already own the print edition. Otherwise, it’s $9.99 (US) — but see the “Heads up!” below for discount news).
You can read the first 50 pages of my book right now for free (just select “download a sample”) to whatever device you prefer to read on.
If you’re a member of the Kindle Unlimited subscription service, you can grab it for free. It’s also available for lending between family and friends — so you can share it.
If you don’t want to pay full price for the ebook edition, Amazon is giving me five days over the next few months to discount my book however I want. As promised, I will be using one of those days to make my book available for free. For the other 4 days, I will likely reduce the price to $4.99, $2.99, $1.99 and $.99. I’ll let you know as soon as I know the details (and give you at least a few days notice before each of the promotions).
But if you want to support my work by paying full price, you can do that, too! I certainly appreciate all the support I can get!
Ok, that’s it for today’s news. Thanks for reading!

I am currently planning a major summer road trip which incorporates:
a book tour
a speaking tour
a mobile podcasting & interviews tour
a photography tour
Details are currently very fuzzy — and subject to major changes — but this is what I know so far:
Departing city: San Diego Departure date: To be determined (as early as the end of March)
Baltimore, MD/DC area: I have plans to stay in the Baltimore/DC area for at least a few weeks, possibly longer
Nashville, TN: I don’t know if I will be traveling this long, but I have to be in Nashville in October for my brother’s wedding
What I know: I will be leaving San Diego and driving across the country to the Baltimore, Maryland area where I will be staying for at least a few weeks. I will eventually be making my way back to California. That’s all I know for certain at this point.
This trip will likely take months and I do not plan on being in any rush to get from one place to the next. The destinations I visit are completely open at this point, but I plan on sticking with a general trajectory without backtracking to places I’ve already been to or traveling too far out of the way to get to anywhere in particular unless it makes sense opportunity-wise.
Right now, where I go and what I do is entirely dependent on interest and available opportunities at this point. While I have a general path of travel in mind right now based on places I’d like to visit, I’m flexible.
Because traveling isn’t cheap and I will be funding this trip out of my own pocket, paid engagements and money-making opportunities will likely be a priority (out of necessity). Currently, my book sales are not enough to support something like this, but maybe they will be eventually.
If you’d like to help, buying my book or gifting it to someone via Amazon helps pay for a little more than a gallon of gas. Or, if you’d like to wait, the copies I sell as I travel will net me a higher profit per book, but without the benefit of buyers being able to leave “verified reviews” on Amazon. But since very few people leave reviews anyway, I’m not too concerned about it. :)
I’m hoping paid engagements (speaking, photography, etc) will help offset some costs, but based on previous experiences, it’s not something I’m planning on.
What I will be doing as I travel:
Blogging / Videos: I will discussing my journey as I travel and sharing whatever I think may be of interest to people (or whatever people express an interest in).
Podcasting & interviews: I will be podcasting as I travel and interviewing interesting people. If you would like to be considered or know someone who should be considered, let me know.
Book signings: When there is interest, I will arrange to have several copies of my book made available at book stores, coffee shops, or other meeting places.
Meet-ups: I will be connecting with people who have an interest in meeting to talk or participate in an activity (social outings, adventures, etc).
Speaking engagements: Where there is interest, I will be speaking at schools, businesses, organizations about anything related to the contents of my book or my travels.
And if all that wasn’t enough, I will also be working on Volume 2 of my book series. While I am hoping to have it out by the end of this year, there’s a good chance that this trip will likely interfere with that. But if I can pull it off, I will certainly try.
Because of this publishing goal, there will be days where I do nothing but sit in a cafe — or the woods — and write. Which is another reason why this trip will take months. But even on the days that I’m not traveling, I’d like to get in the habit of producing short video clips to let you know what’s going on.
I will be making up a lot of this and adapting as I go. If you followed my previous travel adventures (ie 2010-2012/13) — or if you’ve read my book — you’ll know I have some experience with this sort of thing. But unlike before, I now have the benefit of having had years to reflect on what I could have done better in order to avoid certain issues.
This will essentially be an opportunity-seeking adventure. So lots of things are possible.
And besides all of the aforementioned things I plan on doing, I will also be using this trip as a way to test the viability of setting up a portrait photography related (or other) business in a particular city. I previously had a photo studio in the Baltimore area — and still have some connections there — which, besides wanting to catch up with friends, is one of the reasons I plan on staying in that area for a few weeks.
I’d like to hear from you:
Whether you simply want me to sign your copy of my book or want me to do a book signing at a place you suggest (book store, coffee shop, wherever…) and can help me arrange it, let me know.
If you’d like me to speak at your meet-up, company, or organization, let me know.
If you’d like to participate and/or be interviewed on my podcast, let me know. I’m looking for interesting and passionate people. I’ll have more details on this later.
If you’d like to participate in a modeling or portraits photo shoot, let me know.
Basically, if any of this sounds interesting to you — or if you have ideas, suggestions, or feedback — let me know. If you received this via email, you can simply reply to this address. Or if you are reading this on my website, you can visit the contact page to send me a message.
