About ZDXP

What is ZDXP?

ZDXP is many things: A travel documentary, a photo journal, and a real-life interactive adventure where participants become a part of the story. It’s also the story of a man on a mission to find a way to attract the love of his life, fulfill his potential, and make a positive difference in the world.

Whoa there, you awesome person, you. Did you read the ZDXP backstory? If not, click me.

The ZDXP backstory provides a few details that form a cohesive bond and friendship with the text you were about to read below and — ah heck, what am I saying? Do whatever you want. I trust you. ;)

Departure Day

May 8, 2010 — that’s when I disconnected completely from life as I knew it. By this this time I’d quit my job, terminated my lease, and sold everything. I forced myself to move on from my traditional life and far beyond the bounds of my comfort zone — now what?

I knew I wanted to travel — and write — and take photos, those were obvious. But I also wanted to connect with people and share my experience. And then I that’s when I came up with the idea of letting people influence my journey by becoming a part of it — I decided to accept challenges, invitations, and requests.

And that’s when “ZDXP” was truly born.

“ZDXP”

“Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.” — Neale Donald Walsch

“ZDXP” stands for the “Zero Dean Experience”. The name came about because I needed some way to distinguish what I was about to do from my “traditional” life. The “Zero Dean Experience” seemed like a fitting title since what I’m doing now is all about the experience — my own personal journey and the interactive experience I share with others.

ZDXP – A Real-Life Interactive Adventure

ZDXP allows people from all over the world to get directly involved in my adventures — I accept personal & group challenges, invitations, and requests as I travel. At times, people following my adventure have had an influence over everything I do — from suggesting places for me to go, things for me to do, foods to eat, and sending in unique challenges.

The degree to which I do the things that people suggest depends greatly on audience participation. The larger and more active my audience is, the farther I’m willing to go and the more thrilling, unusual, or exciting my adventure & experiences become.

ZDXP Goals

I embarked on this journey as a way to push myself beyond my comfort zone and beyond my perceived limits. I wanted to find a way to feel like was fulfilling my own unique potential and giving something of value back to the world.

It wasn’t until my journey really got into gear — and I started getting feedback from people telling me how “inspired” they were by what I was doing — that I realized how much I truly enjoyed being a source of motivation — even though it was just an accident.

Someone went as far as calling me a “motivational do-er” — I loved that. I aim to do as much “motivational doing” as much as possible.

The “Love Story” — maybe. I mean, hopefully. I mean, aaaaaah!

So it’s true — one of my underlying reasons to setting off on this journey was to make myself more visible to the woman of my dreams. But one has to wonder — how do you attempt to do something that is so “out there” and unconventional and also attract a woman who isn’t immediately turned off by all the obvious red flags?

It’s been a difficult challenge — traveling and dating, but I knew it would be. But the hardest thing about it is when people reject me because of some preconceived notions or expectations of some awful things they think about me without ever actually taking a second to look deeper.

I’m not “that guy” — and I’m truly sorry that we live in a world where “that guy” seems more common than not.

It was a combination of my personal goals and my desire to make a difference that evolved into the ZDXP mission…

The ZDXP Mission

To motivate by DOING. To face fears & overcome challenges. To encourage people to smile, think, laugh, live, and love more — and to provide participants with a meaningful experience they can call their own.

To spread goodwill & positivity and inspire and motivate people.
To share an experience with others in a way that it touches them on a personal level.
To help create a community of positive, passionate, and friendly people who in turn help inspire, motivate, and enrich other people’s lives.
